These are a few of my favourite things

One day Alice came to a fork in the road and saw a Cheshire cat in a tree. 'Which road do I take?' she asked. 'Where do you want to go?' was his response. 'I don't know' Alice answered. 'Then,' said the cat, 'it doesn't matter'- Lewis Carroll

At the moment I tend to see things on the internet or just in the world and post them on my Facebook page. Things that give me joy, make me laugh or cause me to stop a moment and ponder. These are the things I like to share with people. It struck me that there must be a more organised way to collect all these ideas and musings that come to me and the bits and bobs I come across, thus I decided that a blog was probably the way forward. I also thought it would be fun to be 'one of those cool kids' with a blog... although I have wondered if people will really want to read what I have to say!!

For those who don't know me that well here's a little background information. I'm 22 (have been dealing with this GREAT age and the discovery of my first grey hair since February despite it going against all my feminist views!) and studying Sociology and Social Psychology at the University of York. I'm very driven and tend to like to be involved with everything I can be... I've managed to restrain myself recently and take on a few less commitments. At the moment they consist of mentoring/advising for Future You (a great site helping NEET youths, among other things), my degree which seems to be going vaguely ok, RAG officer for the University with my best friend Beth and combining my love for positive body image type things with University by setting up a Body Gossip society whilst being an ambassador for the campaign (again with the beautiful Beth who I'm sure will feature in my blog periodically because she is my best friend and a general all round inspirational rock type person in my life!). When I was thinking of a 'topic' for my blog, my immediate thoughts were mental health campaigning type things, positive body image issues and campaigning and of course social activism. These are the things in my life that I'm passionate about so I think my blog will be vaguely centred around those, however as I already explained it may end up being a little bit of an extension of my consciousness.

Now... the quote... this was something that popped up on my Facebook timeline or somewhere like that and made me feel happy. I'm at an odd stage in my life where I'm constantly trying to rebel against the inevitable stage of grownuphood which I am quickly headed towards. I am just over half way through my degree and have these romantic ideas of doing something to help people when I finish. What that will entail or be... I'm yet to firmly decide. But I guess it doesn't matter if I don't know quite yet.

Anyway... who knows how often I will blog, or whether there will be anything worth while reading! Fingers crossed it might be a more interesting way for me to share ideas with the world.

Love Kate xx
